Your system belongs to you, and it’s written in the contract.
Most management software is rented. If you stop paying, you lose access, and sometimes your data with it. With Socle, what is built for you is yours from day one.
What you receive
These five items are in the contract, on a separate page that you sign.
The code
It’s in a GitHub repository in your name from the first week of the build. You see every change, with its date.
The server
Your system runs on a server hosted in Quebec, in Beauharnois, in an account in your name. The host bills you directly.
Your data
In the administration section, a button prepares a complete copy of your data. You get one file per table, which opens in Excel, along with all your documents. You don’t need to ask me.
The licence
I reuse some basic components from one client to the next. They stay mine, but you have a perpetual, irrevocable and transferable licence to them. You can sell your business along with its system.
The handover kit
It’s delivered at go-live and kept up to date. It includes the operating guide, the description of the system, the list of environments and the steps to change the passwords. With it, another developer can take over.
Rented software or a system that’s yours
| Subject | Rented software | Socle |
|---|---|---|
| The code | Belongs to the vendor | In a repository in your name |
| Your data | On the vendor’s servers, often outside Quebec | On your server, in Quebec |
| When you hire | The bill goes up | The price doesn’t change |
| If you stop paying | You lose access | The system stays yours |
| To change providers | You start from scratch | Another developer takes over with the handover kit |
If you decide to leave
You give 30 days’ notice, at any time, even during the first year. There is no penalty. I hand you a final copy of your data, we change the access together, and I answer your new provider’s questions for 30 days, including a one-hour call. The transfer costs nothing.
Months already paid aren’t refunded, and unused points expire.
What I keep
The right to reuse, for other clients, the generic components that contain nothing specific to your business. Your data, your business rules and your documents are never reused elsewhere.
Questions about ownership
Do I need technical knowledge?
No. During the Evolution plan, I take care of the server, the updates and the backups. Ownership matters most the day you want to change providers or sell the business.
What happens if Socle closes?
You keep everything. The code, the server and the data are already in your name, and the handover kit lets another developer carry on. It’s written into the contract.
Where is my data?
On your server, in Beauharnois, Quebec. Each employee has access based on their role, and backups are encrypted every night.
Can I sell my business with the system?
Yes. The licence is transferable, so the system goes with the business.
